Organizing is Rearranging
Wish you could snap your fingers and find extra room in your limited cabinets and drawers?
Finding extra space is as simple as re-arranging the space you already have!
It takes a little more effort than snapping your fingers to get the job done, but there is a fairly easy way:
All you have to do is think inside, outside and use your magnetic personality!
Let me use a client's kitchen as an example:
Floor space is 7' by 4'.
9 cabinets with 3 shelves in each.
7 drawers, not deep at all.
2 sets of dishes, utensils, pots and pans (kosher kitchen)
3 counters: One is 40" between the wall and the sink; one is 32" to the left of the stove; one is 36 inches to the right of the stove.
The problem: Clutter, crowded space, little elbow room. Here are the before photos:
There is a small mail sorter on the counter. How often do you think some items get wet or messed up?
An over flow of spices takes up 1/2 shelf of the spices that are in the drawer below.
The most used spices take up a full drawer opposite the counter where she cooks.
The solution: Combine three problem sites in 2 easy steps:
Magnetic spice jars, (alphabetized, of course) are easily at hand while cooking on the small counter. (If you don't like seeing spices out, you can use the inside of the cabinets with a few magnetized strips).
The mail holder is now on the inside of the cabinet, and there is no need for the container of overflow spices, freeing up half a shelf and a drawer.
An extra drawer is now free for trivets and oven mitts that had no place to call home.
Now the counter is clear and the mail stays dry!
